New Advancements

With many of its previous models failing to impress most of its customers, the automaker is expected to pay extreme attention to the redesigning of the new Civic Si. It is anticipated that the consumer can access the new model in 3-main body styles namely coupe, hatchback, and sedan.

But, to date no official information has been offered from the company side detailing whether the 2013 model will be hybrid or not. Both interior and exterior features of the present gen model will get a complete overhaul for the new model year.

Honda Wins Appeal in Civic Hybrid Fuel Mileage Case

Finally, Honda has won the case concerned to the fuel mileage of Civic Hybrid. Judge has overturned the case and awarded $10,000 to the owner of 2006 Civic Hybrid – Heather Peters. In the past, Heather Peters has won the case against Honda in small claims court. The case cannot be appealed anymore under California law.

After completing the 3-day appeals hearing, company has presented 3 witnesses to testify on behalf. Neil Schmidt has testified the original case and was brought to the stand one more time. The hybrids system in the vehicle never had problems.

Peter has presented evidence in the small claims court saying that document is irrelevant to the vehicle tested. Johnson also said the estimated fuel economy for 2006 Civic was “verified and repeatable” in the tests and complied completely with EPA standards.

Peters is not eligible to win the Award of $9867 that she won in the small claims court and she has opted for the class action suit. She might get the voucher worth $1500, since she has purchased the new vehicle from Honda that settlement entitles.

There is nothing much exciting or innovative about Civic VTI, but that doesn’t stop it from being a very solid performer and it is fun to drive the car. And its performance is satisfactory.

Under the Hood

Other than that VTI, the Civic sedan is offered in VTI-L and Sport; VTI gets 1.8-L SOHC i-VTEC engine, mated either to a manual or automatic transmission.

The 1.8-L engine delivers 103kW and torsion of about 174Nm- that’s just 2units lesser than Holden Cruze and VTI is lighter than Cruze CD. Gear changes are well located and performance is smooth. It claims a fuel consumption of 6.9L/100km with manual, while with automatic, it achieves 7.2-L.

The Outlook

Though the car falls short of its feature-packed competitors, such as Holden Cruze and Mazda3, VTI represents a nice package.

Its body is built with a classic shape with nice sharp lines and has the potential to attract all customers. You can enhance the look further by adding optional features, such as side skirts, front/rear spoiler, and chrome exhausts.

Driving Impression

Thought the steering wheel looks bit cheap, it handles well, offering nice feedback. Honda Civic VTI is nimble and handles with pretty well, even under pressure.

Honda to launch CR-V in Indian market at 2012 Auto Expo

2012 CR-V was launched in US market in the year 2011 and now its time for its launch in Indian market.

The company’s best-selling CR-V crossover will be sportier with a sharper look than the existing model and will also be incorporated with a wide range of safety equipments like 4-channel ABS, Hill-Start Assist, Motion Adaptive Electronic Power Steering, and many more.

Honda showed off its electric version of sports car- EV-STER Concept that doesn’t need steering wheel at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.

This small-seat roadster is smaller than Mazda MX-5 Miata and Honda S2000. It uses a little electric motor of 10 kwh and lithium-ion batteries outputting 78 hp to rear wheels. The body is made of carbon composites to reduce its weight.

It can accelerate to the 0-37 mph mark in 5.0 seconds and touches a top speed of 99 mph. Its charging time is based on the type of charger being used and ranges from 3 to 6 hours.

The automaker has managed to develop a completely customizable driving experience with this car.
